Probably one of the most rewarding parts of being in the ministry is working closely with the next generation of God’s choice servants. I am not sure what the future holds for Christianity, but I am enjoying being used of God to prepare these young people to make a difference in the world for Christ.
Because we are a smaller church, much of our activities are held at our home. Our home has always been a place for the youth of our church. My wife is great with the girls, and my kids love having the opportunity to make good friends in the security of their home. We do take two or three trips a year together. It may be a camp, a preaching conference geared just for them, or it may just be a couple of days in the mountains enjoying the snow. Whatever we do, we raise the money together and then the activity is so much more rewarding.
I am starting to see a glimpse of the future of our church as one by one our young people have a desire to return home from college and work to build a place for their families. It is not easy, but it is worth it. As I sit on the platform waiting to preach God’s inspired Word, I am moved to tears many times by observing these fine young people serve God with a fervent heart.
I am a blessed man!
